NETBALL Association of Zambia (NAZ) president Gertrude Mukumi and other executive committee members are unopposed ahead of today’s elective annual general meeting billed for National Sports Development Centre in Lusaka.
NAZ general secretary Prichard Ngoma said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that nominations will be open for members willing to contest for various positions.
“Our [NAZ] constitution allows members to be nominated from the floor. Members will be allowed to file in nominations until the time of elections that is when we will close.
“If anything, the association will need to vote for one position on the committee members because one positions is vacant. One of the committee members resigned from the position some time back,” Ngoma said.
He urged members willing to contest positions to feel free.
“No one has come forth to register despite nomination papers being sent to all members affiliated to NAZ. We have heard rumours that some people want to contest and we will give them chance to register because the constitution allows that,” Ngoma said.
The current executive has Mukumi as president and is deputised by Evelyn Phiri.
Ngoma is general secretary, Jessy Hewuka is deputy general secretary while treasurer is Martha Sichone.
Committee members are Maston Banda, Macleans Nyasulu and Moses Kalubai.
