KELVIN KACHINGWE, Lusaka
NATASHA Mapulanga, the Miss Heritage Zambia 2016, is in Johannesburg to take part in the Miss Heritage Global pageant, which started running on Wednesday and goes up to next Saturday.
The Miss Heritage Global pageant, whose coronation gala will be held at The Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City, has attracted 60 contestants from around the world.
A brainchild of Tare Munzara of Zimbabwe, the pageant is an innovative, international pageant that seeks to promote the world’s tangible and intangible heritage by celebrating the integrity of women.
Natasha, who took over the crown of Miss Heritage Zambia from current Miss Zambia Louisa Chingangu in June last year, says she will endeavour to promote the country’s heritage when she participates in the Miss Heritage Global pageant.
“I want to enjoy myself to the fullest as I promote my country’s rich heritage and also learn about other countries’ heritage,” Natasha told the Weekend Mail in Lusaka.
Natasha is going to the pageant with a lot of experience behind her in the world of pageantry having been the Miss Teen Zambia 2013 winner, First Princess Miss Freedom Zambia 2014 and Miss Zambia 2014 Second Runner-Up.
But to do well at the Miss Heritage Global, she will also need some votes from the public.  Public voting is going on, the Miss Heritage Global Facebook page. At the pageant finals, she will compete in cuisine, debate, talent and fitness categories apart from siteseeing and making a presentation on the country’s heritage.
Other Zambians to have participated in the Miss Heritage Global pageant are Miss Heritage 2013 Ruth Musakabantu, Miss Heritage 2014 Tina Shanga and Louisa Chingangu, the Miss Heritage 2015.
