Napsa’s title ambitions face Power test

NAPSA Stars’ title ambitions will be tested today when they face third-placed Power Dynamos in a top-of-the-bill Super Division Week 21 match at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.

Defeat for Napsa and victory for second-placed Zesco United over Nakambala Leopards will see the Ndola side climbing to the top.
Napsa have 37 points, two better than Zesco while Power have 33 points at par with Green Buffaloes, who host Konkola Blades.
Napsa will seek revenge when they take on Power in a lunch-time kick off.
The Pensioners lost 1-0 in Kitwe and will not allow Power to complete a double.
Napsa coach Tenant Chilumba, a former Power boss, will unleash his best ammunition to keep the dream of winning a maiden league title alive.
The hosts will rely on Collins Sikombe, Mangani Phiri, Maunga Kabuku and Alex Mwamba to get maximum points.
They will be without striker Youremember Banda, who saw red in last Sunday’s goalless draw with Nchanga Rangers.
But Power, lining up Allan Chibwe, Billy Mutale, Larry Bwalya, Luka Lungu and Alex Ng’onga, have the ammunition to halt Napsa’s cruise.
Zesco will target victory over Nakambala and hope that Power edge Napsa so that the leadership could change.
Having found their rhythm after a rough patch, Zesco will target bashing Nakambala at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Zesco coach Zlatko Krmpotic will rely on Jessy Were, John Ching’andu, Davis Kasirye and Davey Daka to remain on track for a sixth Super Division title.
But morale is high in the Nakambala camp after last Saturday’s 1-0 win over Nkana and will they travel to Ndola to cause an upset.
Nakambala, who are 14th on the log, have 23 points.
Nkana will seek redemption when Nchanga Rangers visit Wusakile township in Kitwe.
The legendary side lost to Nakambala last week and need to overcome Rangers to keep the top teams in sight.
Coach Beston Chambeshi expects Ronald Kampamba, Shadreck Musonda, Danny Silawve and Ronald Chibwe to put on their scoring boots.
But Rangers will target completing a double over the Kitwe giants.
Rangers edged Nkana 1-0 in Chingola.
Sixth-placed Nkana have 31 points while Rangers, lying 15th on the log, have 18.
Elsewhere, sister clubs City of Lusaka and Mufulira Wanderers clash at Woodlands Stadium, Lumwana Radiants host Red Arrows, Real Nakonde entertain Forest Rangers at New Stadium in the border town and Buffaloes host Blades.
Tomorrow’s double header at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka will see Zanaco taking on Green Eagles and Lusaka Dynamos tackling Nkwazi.
