Napsa Stars set to extend lead

VICTOR KUMWENDA, Lusaka
NAPSA Stars today have an opportunity to make another stride towards winning their maiden Super Division title when they tackle Kabwe Warriors in a

Week 17 match at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
At the start of the season, bookmakers did not put Napsa among the favourites to lift the trophy but the Pensioners are 22 games away from making history.
Napsa have 31 points, five better than second-placed Lusaka Dynamos, who host tail-enders Real Nakonde tomorrow.
Fourth-placed Nkana are away to Green Eagles while Power Dynamos welcome Lumwana Radiants.
NAPSA v WARRIORS
“We have the momentum but there are no easy games. The boys know that they have to remain focused. Otherwise we are ready for them [Warriors],” said Napsa coach Tenant Chilumba, a former Warriors midfielder.
The Pensioners are unbeaten in the last six games and will be looking forward to another win when Warriors visit.
Napsa have won four and drawn twice to amass 14 points from a possible 18 in the last six matches.
Last season, Napsa beat Warriors 1-0 at home and battled to a 1-1 stalemate in Kabwe.
They overcame Konkola Blades 1-0 last Saturday and will rely on Mathews Maleka, Youremember Banda and Mangani Phiri to keep the flame burning.
But Warriors coach Elijah Chikwanda will be eager to get his maiden win following his appointment two weeks ago.
“We should start winning games. We have been playing well but it is just that we have more draws than wins and luck has not been on our side. The boys should just put in their best,” Chikwanda said.
Sixteenth-placed Warriors have 14 points.
EAGLES v NKANA
Buoyed by last Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Red Arrows, Nkana will target beating Eagles at Independence Stadium in Choma.
Nkana are unbeaten in the last three games.
The Beston Chambeshi-mentored Nkana beat Buildcon 1-0 and then overcame Forest Rangers and Arrows with a similar scoreline.
Chambeshi will look to goal-poacher Ronald Kampamba, Shadreck Musonda and Austin Muwowo to keep alive their hunt for a record 13th title.
But Eagles, who have Venacious Mapande, Spencer Sautu and Mwila Phiri Junior, will face Nkana with confidence despite drawing the last three games.
Eagles are on 18 points.
Elsewhere, Power Dynamos face Lumwana Radiants at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe, Blades host Nakambala Leopards in Chililabombwe, Mufulira Wanderers tackle Nchanga Rangers in a relegation battle while Buildcon engage City of Lusaka in Ndola.
