Napsa Hurricanes, Hawks face off in round 11 clash

AFTER a narrow 99 -91 win over Nishati Denvers last weekend, fifth-placed Napsa Hurricanes hope to improve their standing on the log when they face Hawks in today’s Week 11 Midlands Basketball Association (MBA) men’s league fixture.

Hawks were last week 89 -54 victors over bottom placed Intrepid Bulls, who have not won a game since the league kicked off eight weeks ago and facing Bulls gives the birdmen a warm up for next Sunday’s encounter against Matero Magic.
Hurricanes have 16 points, one better than Hawks.
Billed for National Sports Development Centre in Lusaka, the match takes centre stage in the absence of defending champions Magic and Lusaka City Council Looters who are away in Zimbabwe for the Harare Mayoral Invitation tournament.
In the men’s MBA B league, Four Season host Kabwe Legends while promotion hopefuls Green Eagles hope to extinguish Harry Chansa’s ZCAS Blazers.
Other men’s B league matches involve Capital Raiders against Gallant Air Knights with Junior Buffaloes taking on Junior Looters.
On the Copperbelt, matches which were initially scheduled for Don Bosco Courts in Chingola have been moved to the Copperbelt University in Kitwe.
Copperbelt Basketball Association secretary Annie Simbeye said courts in Chingola have been booked for another event.
Konkola Trotters face CEC Blazers after which YMCA Stingers take on Don Bosco with the curtain closing match between Chingola Spiders and Kalewa Garrisons.
At Chawama Courts, Mufulira Saints host defending women’s champions Lunga Woosters and in the men’s duel Mufulira Original Magnets face Lunga Bullets.
