NAPSA Stars yesterday opened up a five-point lead at the summit of the Super Division after edging Konkola Blades in a Week 16 match in Chililabombwe.
Napsa took advantage of Lusaka Dynamos’ slip at Lumwana Radiants to keep their march towards a maiden league title alive.
The Pensioners have 31 points, five better than Dynamos, who lost 1-0 at Lumwana.
Striker Mathews Maleka’s first-half header was enough to ensure Napsa collected maximum points.
Maleka nodded in a Fred Musinde cross in the 40th minute to hand Blades coach Wellington Mujembe a losing start at Konkola Stadium.
Blades have 13 points.

Lusaka Dynamos’ aspirations of winning their maiden Super Division title suffered a setback after losing to Lumwana Radiants in Solwezi.
Under-20 midfielder Musonda Siame netted the solitary goal in the 88th minute at Lumwana Ground.
Lumwana started the match on a fast pace with Chanda Mushili’s effort smashing the cross-bar on the half-hour mark.
Lumwana have 24 points, two behind Dynamos.

Defender Bronson Chama’s own goal was all Nkana needed to sink Red Arrows in Kitwe, MATHEWS KABAMBA reports.
The victory pushed Nkana to third position with 25 points. Arrows are stuck on 20 points.
Nkana scored the lone goal when Aaron Katebe found Ronald Kampamba, whose shot was deflected by Chama into his own goal.

Nchanga Rangers and Green Eagles battled to a barren draw in a dull encounter at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola.
Rangers are on 15 points while Eagles have 18.

Nakambala Leopards overcame Mufulira Wanderers to register their second win of the campaign, MULWANDA LUPIYA reports. Marcel Manene scored the solitary goal pushing Nakambala to 16 points.
Wanderers remain on 13 points.

Kalaba Chikwanda’s goal was all Nkwazi needed to beat City of Lusaka at Woodlands Stadium, SYLVESTER MUSONDA reports.
Chikwanda struck nine minutes into the game with a long-range shot.
City suffered a setback on 22 minutes when goalkeeper Joseph Phiri was injured.
