VICE-PRESIDENT Mutale Nalumango says the conflict in Sudan is regrettable because there cannot be any meaningful economic development on the continent or indeed elsewhere in the absence of peace and security. Mrs Nalumango said it is in the interest of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), of which Sudan is a member, to ensure peace prevails. “Instability anywhere on the continent is instability everywhere,” she said, quoting the phrase often used by President Hakainde Hichilema. The Vice-President was speaking at the opening ceremony of the 18th Meeting of COMESA Ministers of Foreign Affairs ahead of the 22nd COMESA Heads of State and Government Summit.
