MWSC to inspect Nchanga North hospital line

NKWETO MFULA, Chingola
MULONGA Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has agreed to inspect its water supply infrastructure to Nchanga North General Hospital (NNGH) in Chingola in a bid to address the intermittent water supply to the health institution.
This follows complaints of erratic water supply to Nchanga North General Hospital and high water bills.
Nchanga North General Hospital superintendent Charles Chishimba said in an interview that management met MWSC officials in a bid to address the shortage of water at the health institution.
“Mulonga Water and Sewerage Company has agreed to inspect its water infrastructure supply system at the hospital,” Dr Chishimba said.
He is, however, happy that the supply of water to the hospital has improved over the past week.
And on the high water bills, Dr Chishimba said the water utility has promised to review the tariffs used to bill Nchanga North General Hospital.
He said the water company uses the medium tariff to bill Nchanga North General Hospital instead of the social service tariff.
“The medium tariff rate is just like commercial rate, which the water utility is charging the hospital,” Dr Chishimba said.
He is concerned that the erratic supply of water to the hospital is affecting service delivery.
He said despite the erratic water supply, MWSC allegedly delivers high bills.
But MWSC public relations officer Patricia Luhanga said service provision by the water company ends at the metering stage.
She called on the hospital management to check for leakages at its water storage infrastructure.
