Mwiza releases What a Shame

MWIZA Zulu, daughter of Reggae star Maiko Zulu has released her first solo single titled ‘What a Shame’.
The young star told the Weekend Mail that the song talks about a young girl who gets impregnated by her own father and she is ashamed.
“What a shame is a lamentation of a young girl who was defiled and made pregnant by her father. So, the young girl is asking what she will call the child fathered by her biological father,” Mwiza said.
The song has a Zambian touch, produced at Music for Change studios in Kabwata.
The song was initially written by her mother Sista D, but Mwiza decided to redo the song because she wanted to combine her passion for music and activism to the song.
“My mother had done her part to the story which I embrace so much, however, the song needed to have my own touch and what message I want to send out especially in line with my activism,” Mwiza says.
In 2018, Mwiza released a single titled ‘I love you’ which featured her parents. What a shame is her first solo release just to get herself to the people as she continues to work on more songs.
She promises her audience more music this year because she is focused and spending more time in the studio working on new songs. She hopes to release another album later this year.
