Mwiikisa treks to Portugal

ALEX NJOVU, Lusaka
GREEN Buffaloes forward Lineker Mwiikisa has joined Portuguese Division Two side Santa Clara Acores on a season loan.
Prior to trekking to Portugal, Mwiikisa was loaned to Mozambican outfit Costa do Sol.
And Mwiikisa has pledged to work hard in a bid to earn a starting position at the Portuguese side.
Buffaloes chairman Andrew Siame confirmed the development in an interview in Lusaka yesterday.
“I am very happy for the young man. He is a very hard working man. This is why the command decided to promote him recently to the position of sergeant.
“Good things come to those who wait. It is sad that we have players who like rushing to go abroad even when they are not doing well at home. Look at this young man [Mwiikisa], he is a very good player but he has been very patient in his career and now he is playing in Europe,” Siame said.
Meanwhile, in an interview from Ponta Delgada, Portugal, on Friday night, Mwiikisa expressed happiness with the gesture.
“It is a dream come true,” he said.
Mwiikisa, who scored eight goals for Costa do Sol, thanked God for the opportunity.
