Mwepu snubs Messi


DESPITE most people generally agreeing that Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski was the best player on the globe last year, Chipolopolo coach Alijosa Asanovic thinks the Polish was not worth his vote in the FIFA Best Awards. On Monday, Lewandowski was crowned The Best in the men’s category on the planet for 2021 at the FIFA Best Awards in Zurich, Switzerland, when beating Lionel Messi to the individual accolade. The voting panel is composed of national team coaches, captains and selected media personnel from each of FIFA’s 211 federation accounting for 25 percent of the final tally while the other quarter is left to a public vote. Even though he was only unveiled yesterday, Asanovic, who until his appointment was a technical advisor to Beston Chambeshi, was last month allocated the slot to vote as Zambia coach.
