Munkonje demands hard work

ALEX NJOVU, Lusaka
NEWLY appointed Konkola Blades coach John Munkonje has demanded hard work from his players for the team to survive relegation.
Munkonje said in an interview from Chililabombwe yesterday that he would not tolerate laziness from his players.
“We all need to work hard and ensure that the club survives relegation. There will be no room for laziness,” he said.
Munkonje, who took over the reins at the border town after Enos Silwimba was dismissed on Tuesday following a string of uninspiring results, said he is equal to the task.
“Konkola Blades is a big club. We need to work hard and save the club from going down. for us to do this, we need commitment and hard work from the players,” he said.
Munkonje is upbeat that Blades will survive relegation.
“We need to collect maximum points in the remaining matches. We have no choice but to start performing well in the remaining 10 league games for us to survive relegation.
“Our fans expect a lot from us and I would like to thank them for their support. The players must rise to the occasion and start delivering the desired results,” he said.
The former Ndola United and Power Dynamos player urged the fans to remain patient and continue supporting the team.
He said today’s game against basement club National Assembly in Chililabombwe is very crucial.
Blades are 12th on the log with 19 points.
