CHALI MULENGA, Livingstone
SOUTHERN Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe has expressed concern at the increased number of ‘fake’ pastors that are denting the name of the church.
Mr Munkombwe said some pastors engage in evil deeds contrary to biblical teachings.
Addressing a Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church meeting in Livingstone on Saturday, the minister expressed concern at the mushrooming of churches which are not adhering to biblical teachings.
“You have resisted the moral decay that has been exhibited by a lot of these so called pastors in the churches that are mushrooming in the country,†he said.
Mr Munkombwe said the mushrooming churches had no nothing to offer apart from misleading people.
“These pastors are misinterpreting the scriptures and misleading the young people,†he said.
Mr Munkombwe said he has always found comfort in biblical scriptures because God is his refuge and commended the SDA church for the work that it had accomplished because it had a good track record in the Southern province.
“I am not here to flatter the church, as I have passed that stage of flattering people, I speak my mind on an issue.  I am 82-years-old and I have nothing to lose,†he said.
And SDA South Zambia conference president Vanny Munyumbwe praised Government for the developments taking place in the country and upholding the rule of law.
Dr Munyumbwe has also thanked Government for supporting the church.
“We want to thank you for finding time to grace this occasion as this shows that the Government is committed to supporting the church, and we commend the Government for the rule of law,†he said.
