Mumba Yachi fined K10,000

THE Lusaka Magistrate’s Court yesterday convicted and fined musician Shadreck Mumba alias Mumba Yachi for giving false information by stating that his parents were Zambians when in fact they are Congolese.

And the State withdrew the offence in which Mumba was charged with unlawful stay in the country, and giving false information to public officers.

The development follows plea bargain negotiations that took place between the State and Mumba’s lawyer.
When the matter came up yesterday, senior public prosecutor Chipo Gura told the court that the State withdrew the first count of the three the singer was charged with.
And in taking plea in count two and three, Mumba admitted having committed the offences stating that he was not aware that his activities were illegal.
