Mpundu is Chambishi coach

By MULWANDA LUPIYA
DIVISION One (North) leaders Chambishi have appointed Knight Mpundu as head coach.
Former Kitwe United trainer Mpundu replaces Lawrence Mweemba, who was dismissed after a string of poor results in May this year.
Club secretary Douglas Muma confirmed Mpundu’s appointment in an interview in Chambishi yesterday.
“We have engaged a new coach whose contract is up to the end of the
season, after that we will see what will happen,” Muma said.
He said Mpundu will be assisted by Dennis Njapau, who has been acting
head coach since the departure of Mweemba.
Muma said Mpundu has been tasked to guide Chambishi back to the Super Division.
“We decided to settle for Mpundu because of his vast experience. He [Mpundu] has coached in Botswana for 17 years,” Muma said.
They were demoted to the lower ranks in 2009.
Chambishi have 39 points, one ahead of ‘Mighty’ Mufulira Wanderers.
