Government complex.

GOVERNMENT has acquired a US$29,000 loan from the African Development Bank (AfDB) for undertaking development projects in Mpulungu district in

Northern Province.
Some of the ventures to be undertaken with this loan facility is the construction of two classrooms and four health posts under the Lake Tanganyika project.
Mpulungu district commissioner Dennis Sikazwe said in an interview that Government acquired the AfDB loan to finance various development projects in the district and that the identified contractors for the projects have already moved on site.
“The contractors have already moved on site and they should be completing the works in the next 24 weeks,” he said.
Mr Sikazwe said Investco Contractors, Elmark Contractors, and Figo Solutions Limited have each been engaged to build health posts in Kabolyo, Kapembwa and Chozi villages respectively.
Sonimas Contractors won the bid to build two classrooms in Mupata village and a health post in Chitili village.
Mr Sikazwe said people in Kabolyo, Kapembwa, Chozi and Chitili villages are happy about the development because they will now be able to access health services within their localities.
He said most people in areas where the health facilities will be built travel long distances to access services at Mpulungu District Hospital.
