MPIKA district commissioner Moses Katebe has called for investment in the tourism sector in the district, which has the magnificent Kapamba falls and the Luangwa National Park endowed with different animal species.
Mr Katebe said in an interview yesterday that there is need for investors to sample the tourist attractions that the district is endowed with and set up tour facilities that could help to foster development in the area.
He said Mpika has enormous potential for tourism and that Kapamba waterfalls and the North-Luangwa National Park could contribute to the growth of the sector if well-harnessed.
“I am appealing to investors to come through and exploit the tourism sector in Mpika district. The district has great potential in tourism, which can contribute to the economic development of the country,” he said.
Mr Katebe said once the tourism sector is exploited in the district, people can build lodges and hotels which can in turn create job opportunities for the local people.
He said the tourism sector has immense potential to improve the socio-economic well-being of the people in the area.
