Mosi Awards to burst Day of Thunder

KELVIN KACHINGWE, Lusaka
THE Zambian Breweries-sponsored Mosi Zambian Music Awards (ZMA), now entering into their third edition, are set to rebrand into the Mosi Day of Thunder, an extravaganza of music, entertainment and culture.
Expected to be held towards the end of April in Livingstone, the all-day Mosi Day of Thunder will showcase Zambia’s best musicians and performers, while retaining the popular awards ceremony on the previous evening.
“The Mosi Day of Thunder will focus more on the performances as the focal point of the celebration, championing the amazing talent we have in this country while sharing that with as many people as possible,” says Zambian Breweries marketing director Thomas Kamphuis.
“The Mosi Day of Thunder will be bigger and better than ever before, and give more fans the opportunity to see their favourite stars perform live.”
Details of the new-look event are still being finalised with support from the National Arts Council (NAC) while details of award nominees, show line-up, how to vote and other plans for the event will be published over the coming weeks.
Progress can be followed on Facebook at www.facebook.com/MosiTrulyZambian and www.facebook.com/zambianmusicawards.
“Inquiries from musicians and fans are already pouring in as excitement mounts for the event, which has become a highlight of the entertainment and social calendar in recent years,” he said.
Last year’s winners included Chef 187, who won four awards, and Abel Chungu, who captured three accolades.
