More gold medals for Zambia

SIX boxers yesterday earned hero status after winning gold and so did runner Rachael Kundananji, who sprinted to first position in 800m bringing the number of gold medals in the Zambian camp to 12.
Light flyweight Patrick Chinyemba led the way beating Botswana’s Festus Madiehe on split points, flyweight Nene Maonga also overcame Siza Ngiba of South Africa on split points while bantamweight Samson Phiri battered South Africa’s Kadri Ishmael on unanimous points at the Africa Union Sports Council Region Five Games.
Andrew Chilata, a lightweight, beat Malawi’s Yamikani Ntambo on unanimous points, welterweight Steven Zimba had a walkover over Botswana’s Tshepang Kapinga, who failed to show up and middleweight Francis Nundwe beat Wellem Asemahle on split points.
