THE Ministry of Higher Education has signed a K1.2 million contract with the Copperbelt University (CBU) which will culminate in the latter developing the Higher Education Management Information System (HEMIS). Speaking during the signing ceremony yesterday, Ministry of Higher Education Permanent Secretary Kayula Siame said HEMIS will cater for information and statistic needs for the ministry. Mrs Siame said the ministry intends to set up a robust management information system to provide sector performance metrics. The system should further leverage on existing information systems at regulatory institutions and the sector in general. She said the establishment of HEMIS is in line with the electronic-government services which Government is spearheading. “HEMIS will provide timely and accurate information and statistics for the education sector.
