Ministers check on Soweto sanitation

PRESIDENT Lungu has sent a team of ministers from the taskforce on cholera to escalate the response to the outbreak of the diarrhoeal disease in Lusaka.

The taskforce, which is led by Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya, yesterday conducted a check on the sanitation condition at Soweto Market in Lusaka yesterday.

Minster of Traditional Affairs Lawrence Sichalwe, Water Development and Sanitation Minister Lloyd Kaziya, Lusaka Province Minister Japhen Mwakalombe and Dr Chilufya, also helped clean parts of the market.
The market, which is one of the country’s busiest, was covered with filthy water and its air filled with the smell of rotting vegetables and other organic matter.
