Mining should diversify, says Zambia Chamber of Mines

MWILA NTAMBI, Kitwe
THE Zambia Chamber of Mines (ZCM) says diversification needs to be implemented both at national level and by the mining sector.
In an interview after a Zambia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (ZEITI) workshop in Kitwe yesterday, ZCM communications manager Talent Ng’andwe said there is need to look at minerals such as gemstones, as well as low value minerals such as sand which is readily available in communities.
“Let us not just look at copper as the only mineral. We have a boom in the construction sector and sand is available, granite stones are also there. People can mine such things, sell them and send their children to school,” he said.READ MORE
