‘Mines have improved production submissions’

GOVERNMENT has witnessed improvement in the submission of monthly production returns among the major mining companies as a result of high levels of compliance on the Copperbelt and North-western provinces.
Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development Permanent Secretary Paul Chanda attributed the improvement in the submission of monthly mineral production returns to the development of electronic platform called Mineral Output Statistical Evaluation System (MOSES).
Currently, almost all major companies are submitting monthly mineral production returns on or before the 15th day of each month.
Mr Chanda said previously, the mineral production returns were submitted manually and the major challenge that the system posed included low compliance levels, and difficulties in verifying and analysing data.
