THE Mineworkers Union of Zambia (MUZ) has challenged other mining companies to emulate Mopani Copper Mines (MCM) by investing in their underground mining operations to create more jobs for Zambians and to sustain operations.
MUZ general secretary Joseph Chewe said in an interview in Kitwe on Thursday that Zambia has enough copper ore which mining companies can exploit through investment in underground mining operations.
He said the capital expansion programmes MCM is undertaking will not only sustain jobs but also create new ones for the Zambian people because of increased production.
