NKOMBO KACHEMBA, HONE SIAME, Kitwe
THE search for the bodies of the four miners that were trapped underground at Mopani Copper Mines (MCM)’s South Ore Body last week is still on.
On Friday, the mine rescue team retrieved some remains of the four miners which have not yet been identified.
MCM corporate affairs manager Cephas Sinyangwe said in an interview yesterday that the search has continued but nothing has been recovered so far.
The deceased miners have been identified as Emmanuel Kyongola of J59 Chamboli, Honest Mushota of 74 Geddes Street (Nkana East), Arnold Mambwe of H2-63 Chamboli and Abel Munthali of 893 Ndeke township.
The miners died last Sunday around 23:00 hours after being buried alive when a rock fell on them at MCM’s South Ore Body Shaft.
