GOVERNMENT has so far spent K4 million on the ongoing construction of Milenge Trades Training Institute in Milenge district in Luapula Province.
Milenge district commissioner Kunda Chibilo said in an interview that works that stalled because of financial challenges have resumed.
Mr Chibilo said the construction of the trades’ school will benefit many youths in the district once completed.
He said tailoring, bricklaying, catering, carpentry and plumbing are some of the courses that will be offered at the institution.
“So far, we have spent K4 million towards the construction of the trades’ school and once completed it will benefit youths in my district,” he said.
Mr Chibilo said most of the youths in Milenge indulge in illicit activities as there is nothing meaningful they can engage in after completing their secondary education.
He said it is also a challenge for most of the parents in the area to send their children to college because of lack of financial resources to pay for their tuition fees.
