MICMAR Zambia has donated K75,000 worth of hardware to complete the first oxygen plant at Chitambo Hospital in Chitambo District.
The plant will allow the hospital to attend to a minimum of ten patients daily, and over 2,000 patients annually.
“MICMAR was eager to help the Ministry of Health with materials to expedite the completion of the hospital’s first ever oxygen plant. This activity falls under our social responsibility to build structures that improve our communities,” MICMAR investments marketing and communications manager Mufuka Samukonga said in a statement.
The launch of the oxygen plant ensures a continuous supply of oxygen at the facility, which will improve patient care.
The oxygen plant is a government-to-government collaborative project between Zambia and Scotland. Its implementation was facilitated by First Aid Africa.
She said MICMAR recently increased its corporate social responsibility activities by donating K300,000 in the last year to cancer research, education, sport, gender-based violence support and mental health awareness.
MICMAR Investments is a hardware retailer with branches in Lusaka, Ndola and Kitwe.
