MELODY MUPETA, Isoka
CONSTRUCTION of the Michael Chilufya Sata Girls Boarding School in Isoka district at a cost of K40 million has resumed following the release of funds for completing the project.
The construction works which started in 2013 had stalled due to lack of funding from Government.
Isoka district commissioner Evenwell Mutambo said in an interview yesterday that the contractor engaged to undertake the works has now moved on site to complete the project.
Mr Mutambo said the works on the school are likely to complete next year.
“The contractor is on site and Iam personally monitoring the works to ensure that the project is completed on time,” he said.
Mr Mutambo said Government is focused on delivering education to people from habitable infrastructure.
He said the school will have six classroom blocks, 27 teachers’ houses and 10 dormitories.
Mr Mutambo said the new school will help pupils from remote areas to access education while accommodated within the school premises.
He said Isoka has witnessed unprecedented development in the education sector.
