A SUSPECTED mental patient on Saturday “strayed†into a house in Kitwe’s Mindolo township where he stabbed a 24-year-old woman with a knife leaving her with serious injuries.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Charity Katanga said in an interview yesterday that the suspect stormed house number C9 on Tana Road, where he or she picked up a kitchen knife from the kitchen and stabbed Constance Mwale, who was in the house.
“This suspected mental patient entered through the kitchen door and picked up a knife in the kitchen. There was a young woman in the house, whom he stabbed on the palm of the hand and on the back,†she said without giving further details.
And North-Western Province commissioner of police Auxensio Daka has urged inmates at Solwezi Correctional Facility to remain focused as there is still life after imprisonment.
Mr Daka said when he made a donation to inmates that being in prison is not the end of the world but should be used as an opportunity to reflect on wrong deeds and reform.
