Men win, women tumble

ZAMBIA yesterday recorded mixed results when the men team beat Surinam while the women’s team tumbled at the ongoing Olympiads World Chess Championship in Baku.
International Master (IM) Andrew Kayonde, who was playing on board one, beat FIDE Master (FM) Roger Matoewi while Musatwe Simutowe defeated Candidate Master (CM) Romario Sanchez.
On board two, Richmond Phiri and his fellow IM Chitumbo Mwali, who was on board three, drew with FM’s Viresh Giasi and Dewperkash Jagadin to ensure Zambia carried the day.READ MORE
