Mwansa counsels couples..
By MONICA MAYUNI

MINISTER of Defence Kalombo Mwansa says marriages play a pivotal role in building strong and peaceful communities and nations.

Dr Mwansa said marriages have been critical in bringing about peace and stability in any country.

He was speaking on Saturday evening in Lusaka when he officiated at a wedding ceremony for Robin Lovatt and Farlane Namuyamba at Sandy’s Creations Resort Centre.
“Marriages are extremely important. A decision to get married is for you and you should know that marriages are blessed by God,’’ Dr Mwansa said.

He said all strong nations and communities are as a result of stable marriages and that people who believe in stable nations need to believe in marriages too.

Dr Mwansa said since marriages are ordained by God, then the Lord ensures divine protection for them.
He encouraged the couple to remain exclusive to each other and to be equal partners.

Dr Mwansa said problems arise in marriages when one of the partners starts feeling superior.

“You begin to have problems once one starts to treat himself or herself as superior,” he said.

Dr Mwansa cautioned the couple to be tolerant and look at every marital or domestic problem as a temporary setback.

“When problems in your marriage arise, do not give up. Problems are a temporary setback,” he said.
Dr Mwansa urged the couple to remain stable even as they begin a family of their own.

And former Minister of Home Affairs Bates Namuyamba thanked his daughter (bride) for marrying in an honourable manner.

Mr Namuyamba gave K150 million cash to the couple to help them establish their new home in England where Mr Lovatt is based.

Mr Namuyamba said he decided to give the couple the money because he knows how difficult it is for newly married couples to settle.

And the groom thanked his wife’s relatives and friends for warmly welcoming him and his family to Zambia.

Mr Lovatt said he was grateful to everyone who welcomed him and his family.
He thanked all who played a role to ensure that their wedding became a success.

Mr Lovatt promised his father-in-law that they would use the K150 million wisely.

The church service for the wedding was held at the University of Zambia (UNZA) chapel.
