Anderlect sign Musonda’s children
By CHAPADONGO LUNGUBELGIAN champions Anderlecht have signed Lamisha Musonda and his brother Tika on two-year contracts.
The Zambian teenagers are the oldest sons of former Zambia and Anderlecht star Charles. Tika is 16 years old.
Lamisha, 18, has been called to the Zambia Under-20 national team for next weekend’s African Youth Championship qualifier against Mauritius.
The boys put pen to paper last week, the club website reported yesterday.
Charles was ecstatic about the deals, saying Anderlecht appreciated his sons’ contribution to the club.
"The fact that Anderlecht have offered my two eldest sons a contract shows their appreciation. They have been guided well at Anderlecht for years now, both with respect to football training and otherwise. Moreover, my sons feel like part of the family here at Sporting Anderlecht, where youth training has become a priority,” Charles said.
Lamisha is said to be as gifted as his father was, prompting Zambia Under-20 national team coach Keagan Mumba to summon him for the match against Mauritius.
Charles’ other son named after him is also a talented footballer.
Charles’ professional career started at former Belgian champions Cercle Brugge in 1986 before he moved to Anderlecht where he spent 10 years plagued by a niggling knee injury.
Charles later joined Sacramento Scorpions in the United States and was sold to German second division side Energie Cottbus where he hang up his boots and returned to Anderlecht as a youth coach in 1999.
