ZAWA to offer six bloc concessions in SA
By NKOLE CHITALA

THE Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) is expected to market six concession blocs for Sioma Ngwezi National Park in Western province at an investors’ conference in Johannesburg this month.

A notice says the conference would take place on October 20-22 in Sandton City, South Africa.

The notice, issued by Boundless Southern Africa and the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) director general, Lewis Saiwana’s office says a number of investment opportunities would be show-cased to potential investors during the conference.

The conference, being organised by Boundless Southern Africa, would serve as a briefing session to potential investors regarding the opportunities and procurement processes.

ZAWA would be presenting six concessions on offer in Sioma Ngwezi National Park during the conference while other countries in southern African Development Community would also present their projects.

The Zambian concessions are within the Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Areas.

ZAWA would be offering three by 50,000 hectares concession blocs and three by 40,000 hectares, which are available for a lease period of 20 years renewable.

The bloc concession allows the investor to enjoy exclusivity in the concession area during the duration of the lease.

The institution has invited companies interested in one or more bloc concessions in the Sioma Ngwezi National Park to consider attending the conference.

Trans Frontier Conservation Areas in Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe have been identified as one of the mechanisms for spreading the tourism benefits of hosting the 2010 soccer World Cup in the Southern Africa Development Community.
