ENGLAND-BASED striker Emmanuel Mayuka and five others yesterday joined the Chipolopolo ahead of Saturday’s crucial 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique.
And national team coach Honour Janza is targeting an outright victory despite some injury scares in the squad.
Mayuka, Chisamba Lungu, James Chamanga,  Lubambo Musonda and Davis Nkausu, who arrived on Sunday evening, were part of a morning training session at Lusaka’s Sunset Stadium.
Goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene was expected to join the squad last evening.
Mweene suffered a groin injury during training with South African side Mamelodi Sundown last week while France-based defender Stopilla Sunzu sustained a knock during Sochaux’s 2-1 victory over Ajaccio last Friday.
The two will be assessed by the Chipolopolo medics to ascertain their fitness.
However, Janza believes he has the quality and depth needed to secure victory in Maputo.
“You have to be a bit worried when the players you feel can be part of the game get some knocks on the way…you get affected somehow. But we always prepare adequately, our replacements are good enough to fit in their shoes.
“So far, we haven’t got our own report, the players [Mweene and Sunzu] will be assessed upon arrival and that is when we will determine their fitness. We need our own report,” he said.
Janza maintained that the team’s ultimate goal is qualifying for the 2015 AfCON finals.
Zambia have five points at par with Mozambique, four behind leaders Cape Verde while Niger have two points.
