Matete targets producing world-class runners

MATETE

DIANA CHIPEPO, Lusaka
NEWLY appointed Zambia Amateur Athletics Association (ZAAA) technical director Samuel Matete is focused on producing world champions.
Matete, who was at loggerheads with the Elias Mpondela-led executive, recently reconciled with the top hierarchy and has been given three positions.
The former 400m hurdles world champion said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that his decision to reconcile with ZAAA is for the best interest of the sport.
“I am still very excited that I have reconciled with ZAAA and we are good friends with Mpondela. I have always wanted to contribute to the development of athletics in Zambia. The most that excites me is my involvement to help develop the sport I love the most at national level.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
