LOCAL authorities should start preparing themselves to run markets and bus stations because no political party cadres will be allowed to dictate operations of public facilities, United Party for National Development (UPND) spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has said.
And Local Government Association of Zambia (LGAZ) has nodded the move because it is long overdue and it will help restore sanity in markets and bus stations and broaden the revenue base for councils.
Mr Mweetwa told a media briefing yesterday that the incoming government will strictly operate under the rule of law and will not allow political interference in the running of public facilities.
