A 34-YEAR-OLD businessman of Mansa’s Spark Extension on Wednesday appeared in the Mansa Magistrate’s Court and pleaded not guilty to kidnapping and abducting with intent to confine a person.
In this case, Anthony Chimba is charged with kidnapping and abducting Felix Kabaso with intent to keep him.
It is alleged that Chimba, on February 12 this year in Mansa, jointly and whilst acting together with others unknown, kidnapped and abducted Mr Kabaso.
Chimba denied the charge before magistrate Moses Mulenga.
Clad in a red shirt and navy blue trousers, Chimba who looked composed, raised his hand and applied for bail.
Chimba also complained of chest and general body pains.
But Mr Mulenga said he will consider Chimba’s bail application on February 25 when the case comes up for commencement of trial.
Chimba’s younger sister wept uncontrollably and fainted outside the courtroom after the accused was denied bail.
Sympathisers took her to a waiting car and rushed her to the hospital.
