Man found with case to answer in fertiliser robbery

A TWENTY-THREE-YEAR-OLD man of Kabwe has been found with a case to answer for allegedly stealing 32 bags of fertiliser.
Benson Muwowo appeared before magistrate Chongo Musonda on Monday when the matter came up for continuation of trial.
In his defence, Muwowo testified that on the fateful day, he was called by his friend identified as Justin to do some piecework of transporting fertiliser.
“I did not know anything and where the fertiliser came from. I was told I will be given K100 when I finish the job,” Muwowo said.
He denied stealing the fertiliser and fleeing because he was assured that he would be paid K100 upon completion of the job.
Muwowo told the court that after completing the work, he left for Chinsali.
He told the court that a few days later, police officers arrested him for allegedly breaking into a building.
It is alleged that Muwowo, on dates unknown but between March 1 and March 2 this year, in Kabwe, broke into a storeroom at Bonaza Farm and stole 32 bags of fertiliser worth K6,368.
Ms Musonda adjourned the case to April 30 for judgment.
