MELODY MUPETA, Kitwe
A TWENTY-NINE-YEAR-OLD woman of Kitwe has narrated in the Bulangililo local court how she caught her husband sleeping
in their bed with another woman.
Vetty Muyenga narrated to the court in a case in which she sued Marvin Nsofwa, 35, for divorce on grounds that he was promiscuous.
Muyenga told the court that on the fateful day, she caught her husband naked and sleeping on the matrimonial bed with another woman and that when she tried to confront the woman, Nsofwa beat her up.
She said Nsofwa was protective of the woman whom he told to dress-up and runaway while he beat her (Muyenga).
“I caught my husband red-handed with another woman naked in our bedroom and instead of admitting his wrongs, he husband started beating me up,” she said.
Muyenga said Nsofwa’s action of protecting his mistress clearly shows that he was no longer interested in the marriage.
Muyenga said after the incidence, Nsofwa packed his belongings and left the matrimonial home to live with his girlfriend.
She pleaded with the court to grant her divorce because her husband’s decision to leave home to live with the girlfriend clearly indicated that he was no longer interested in the marriage.
But Nsofwa told the court that he left to live with another woman because his wife had failed to bear him children.
He agreed with his wife’s decision to grant the couple divorce saying his wife has also packed her belongings and left the matrimonial home.
But Bulangililo senior local court magistrate Kambole Nyoni adjourned the case to a later date to give the couple time to reconsider their decision.
