Malaria deaths drop 50%

KATONGO LUMPA, Lusaka
MINISTER of Health Chitalu Chilufya says Zambia has recorded a 50 percent reduction in deaths from malaria since 2014.
Dr Chilufya said the country recorded a significant drop in malaria incidences, from 407 cases per 1,000 in 2014 to 336 cases per 1,000 in 2015.
The minister said this in Lusaka yesterday when he flagged off the distribution of indoor residual spraying chemicals at Medical Stores Limited.  READ MORE
“There has also been a 50 percent reduction in the total deaths in the health facilities,” Dr Chilufya said.
He said the insecticides which are destined for five provinces will provide protection to people and end malaria at household, community and national level.
