YOUTHFUL LIVING with PASTOR MOYO M
THE new year is finally here. Each one of us is believing and expecting great things because we believe that a new year is a time for new beginnings and as per tradition, making of resolutions.
Resolutions differ from one individual to another depending on an individual’s interest and goals in life.
A new year’s resolution is basically a commitment that a person makes to achieve personal goals. It is important that we all develop the habit of making resolutions if we desire to have a productive year.
A good resolution is instigated by first, acknowledging that we are not satisfied with the status quo and realising that we have great potential to be more productive and achieve better results in a more effective and efficient manner.
Making a resolution is one thing and keeping it is another. The key to making a successful resolution lies in making a proper plan on how we intend to keep that resolution and achieve the desired results.
Being successful in keeping resolutions demands that we have a strong initial commitment to make a change, we have coping strategies to deal with problems that will come up and keep track of our progress.
Keeping resolutions comes with challenges that may make us derail or abandon our resolutions. When challenges come, it is important that we remain positive.
Remaining optimistic provides us with the energy we need to overcome any barriers we may face in reaching our goals. Some of the challenges or setbacks can be avoided in the initial stages of making resolutions by setting a realistic goal or deciding on a realistic intention.
We do not have to make too many resolutions. All we need is to pick a realistic, attainable goal with a reasonable time frame.
Let us conclude with a quote from the book of Proverbs 16 vs.3 “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeedâ€.
It is important to involve God, our creator in making resolutions for He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. Happy New Year!
