Make tourism, agriculture viable

ECONOMIST Oliver Saasa has urged Government to develop various mechanisms that will boost development in the tourism and agriculture sectors to achieve meaningful economic growth this year.

Prof Saasa said the tourism and agriculture sectors are potential drivers of the economy if well managed.

He said Zambia’s economy has for a long time depended on the mining sector when other sectors can contribute to its growth.
Speaking in an interview, Prof Saasa said there is need for policy consistency in the agriculture sector as it houses a large number of poor people.
