Letter to the Editor

Make newspaper reading compulsory

Dear editor,
I WISH to compel Government to make buying of newspapers compulsory in schools and non-governmental organisations.

I believe that this will help improve the reading culture of citizens as well as help a lot of people understand communication from Government, especially at policy level.
The poor reading culture results in projects delaying or postponed.
An example would be the registration of TPIN currently taking place at the Zambia Revenue Authority, which has been extended in part because people complained that they did not have enough time.
I have been a victim of people asking me for old copies of a newspaper after they hear that something important was mentioned, meaning that their office does not buy newspapers on a daily basis.
