Maize worth K12.6m sold on ZAMACE

THE Zambia Commodity Exchange (ZAMACE) Limited has auctioned about 7,000 tonnes of maize worth over K12.6 million in the first half of the year.
The exchange has over 500 tonnes of white maize grain available for sale from last season’s harvest.
“About 7,000 tonnes of maize have been sold on the exchange between January and June 2018 and we have raised over K12.6 million,” company executive director Jacob Mwale said in an interview on Monday.
Mr Mwale is optimist that this year’s maize marking season looks bright and more farmers are expected to participate on the platform to get a better price for their crop.
The maize marketing season is expected to start on August 1, 2018.
