Maids pay doubled

GOVERNMENT has increased minimum salaries for various categories of employees, with the gross pay for domestic workers upped from K522.40 to K993.60.
The revised minimum wages, which are effective Monday September 10, 2018, have been signed into law through Statutory Instruments (SIs).
SI number 71 of 2018, general order, provides for a general application of all protected workers that are in the schedule, SI number 70 of 2018 covers shop workers, while domestic workers fall under SI number 69.
Minister of Labour Joyce Simukoko told a media briefing yesterday that in the shop workers category, those in grade one, like office orderlies, will now be paid a gross salary of K1,698.60, increased from K1,132.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
