DARLINGTON MWENDABAI, Chipata
ALTHOUGH most of the residents are generally friendly, the name Magazine still evokes fear among many who are not familiar with this township in Chipata, Eastern Province. It is one of the notorious townships in Chipata.
The township is located just about five minutes’ drive from the central business district. It made news last year in November when a three-year-old boy was found with 44 needles embedded in his body.
The boy, Richard Zulu, had to undergo operations at Chipata Central Hospital and University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka to have the needles removed.
Upto now, it has not been established how the needles got embedded in Richard’s body.
I learnt of the story of Richard through Eastern Province Police Commissioner Lackson Sakala, who tipped me about the case in his office.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
