Mafinga receives farm inputs

TWO hundred and fifty vulnerable people in Mafinga district in Muchinga Province have received farm inputs under the Food Security Pack programme.
The programme is managed by the Ministry of Community Development, and beneficiaries receive fertiliser and seed, which include legumes to improve food security at household level.
Mafinga community development officer Lukwesa Chinyanta said 250 bags weighing 10 kilograms each of maize seed have been distributed to the beneficiaries.
“We have six food security pack committees through which this inputs are distributed to the beneficiaries,” Mr Chinyanta said.
He said 500 bags of fertiliser have also been given to the beneficiaries.
Mr Chinyanta said child-headed and female-headed households, elderly people, unemployed youths, disabled and physically challenged people are among the beneficiaries of the farm inputs.
He said the process of distributing the inputs has been smooth as beneficiaries were identified through a transparent process, with the involvement of the local communities.
“All the inputs have been given out and we did not have problems because the beneficiaries were identified with the help of the community,” he said.
