LWSC enhanced payment collection

THE Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company (LWSC) says the electronic payment system has helped in broadening the company’s revenue base and improving customer service delivery.
In an interview recently, LWSC public relations officer Topsy Sikalinda said the system has made customer payment easy and efficient.
“Customers are able to pay at the comfort of their homes, the system has proved the most secure way and cheaper way of doing business,” he said.
He said the system also saves time for customers as people do not need to queue to pay for their bills.
Mr Sikalinda said  the company  decided  to consider  the  use of  the E-payment  system  to improve revenue base.
“We thought of incorporating information communication technology as the only way to broaden our customer payment method. The system is easy and safe for our customers as it reduces the risk of carrying money in public,”  he said.
Mr Sikalinda said the payment system has made the company to become financially-viable.
He also said the company is considering expanding the payment system to its prepaid customers rather than strictly for post-paid clients.
“Currently, the electronic payment method is only available to our post-paid customers. However, it will soon be extended to them to enable  us  also cater for  prepaid customers,” he  said.
