LuSE records K4m turn-over increase

DESPITE recording a K2.25 share price loss in Lafarge, the Lusaka Stock Exchange (LuSE) recorded an increase in turnover from about K1 million the previous week, to over K4 million last week.
Last week, a total of 3,736,817 shares worth K4,038,906 were transacted in 40 trades.
This is in comparison with a total of 307,441 shares transacted in 37 trades, resulting in a market turnover of K1, 082,790 the previous week, according to the LuSE weekly update for August 5, 2016.
Of a total of over K4 million, Zambeef Products accounted for a bulk of K3,641,012, followed by Real Estate Investment Zambia which registered K201,936, while Lafarge and African Explosives Limited Zambia were at K153,217 and K20,208, respectively.
Other firms which recorded trade activity are Copperbelt Energy Corporation, Airtel, National Breweries and Zambia Sugar.
On share price, apart from Lafarge which recorded a loss of K2.25, Puma and Zambeef Products recorded gains of K0.05 and K0.10, respectively.
Meanwhile, the LuSE all-share index closed the week at 4,600.35 points, a decline of 2.07 percent from the previous week’s close of 4,697.72 points.
On market capitalisation, the local bourse closed last week at about K59.6 billion representing a decline compared to the previous week’s closed at over K60 billion.
