Lusaka Open Championship on December 19

THE Zambia Judo Association (ZJA) will stage the Lusaka Open Championship on December 19 at Central Sports Club in Lusaka.
ZJA acting secretary Mabvuto Ng’uni said in Lusaka yesterday that the championship is open to all clubs affiliated to the association.
Ng’uni also said the tournament will be used to assess referees that will attend a referees’ seminar from December 17 to 19.
“All cadets, both juniors and seniors are expected to take part in the tournament. The event will be used to assess judokas ahead of international competitions next year,” he said.
Fourteen referees are expected to attend the seminar which will be conducted by International Judo Federation head of referees Juancarlos Barcos and Africa Judo Confederation officials Benbada Boubkea and Natha Ourab.
Local referees expected to attend the seminar are Francis Linosi, Chileshe Chisanga, Saidi Kalende, John Mwale, Lackson Mulemwa and William Chanda.
Others are Emmanuel Mafuta, Gideon Mbao, Pius Chanda, Lameck Kashimu, Carol Mwengwe and Misozi Daka.
